Prana Vayus Series

Live Recordings of my Prana Vayus series which took place on Zoom. Each class is between 70-75mins in length. 5 'complete' yoga classes, including asana, pranayama, meditation, bandha, mantra & meditation.

5 Vayus, 5 Practices

The Prana Vayus are an aspect of the Subtle Body of yoga, which explores the nature of energy as it moves through the body. They are also the most subtle form of the Vata Dosha, which in Ayurvedic thought is a combination of the Air & Ether elements. As the nature of Vata is to move, change & fluctuate, so too do the Prana Vayus and their state of balance within our systems change, depending on our practices and lifestyle.

These 5 'complete' yoga practices are designed to explore the aspects of asana, pranayama, meditation, bandha & mantra which are related to each of the Vayus in turn.

These practices are rooted in the Traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga lineage of Sri Vidya, and they will allow you to begin to receive a visceral experience of the most subtle ways in which prana can be influenced through your yoga practice.

Apana Vayu

Practice 1 will focus on cultivating Apana Vayu - the downwards moving force of energy which is situated from the abdominal area down.
Apana is crucial in pacifying the Vata Dosha, as quite often Vata causes the mind to be scattered and ungrounded. By leaning into Apana Vayu in practice we can start to draw the mind back into harmony with the body.

This is my absolute favourite type of practice - but it can be challenging at first to still the mind and go slow. If we are used to being fast and action-oriented within our practice, this kind of breath and stillness-focused practice might prove challenging during the process.

But just wait for the feeling you get at the end! Total bliss :)

Samana Vayu

Samana Vayu is the downward and spiralling moving force of energy which governs elimination & digestion on all levels. Tap in to Samana in order to boost Agni, the digestive fire at the navel centre, which in Ayurvedic thought is the cornerstone of all health and wellbeing.

Prana Vayu

Prana Vayu is located in the chest and upper torso, and it is a two-way moving energy (both in and out!).
If we are balanced and open in these upper chakra areas (anahata especially), our ability to both give and receive love, compassion, empathy and kindness is heightened.
